The organization partners with the government of Kenyan through Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, and other partners to strengthen response to health, HIV prevention and care in the North Rift Valley. Afri-Link partners with the government through its health related departments like; National AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infection Control Programme (NASCOP), District AIDS.STI Coordinator (DASCO), National AIDS Control Council (NACC), and respective Constituency AIDS Committees in the region.
This relationship has helped in strengthening the scaling up of facility and home based HIV Counseling and testing services, provision of quality home based treatment/care programmes and services, supporting initiation of Community Health Units through training of Community Health Workers (CHWs). The organization is also playing a role in bringing different stakeholders by funding of District Health Stakeholders Forums in target districts.
We also support the old members of the community who are caring for orphans and ailing children through provision of farm inputs , medication and paying for school fees. Our health activities have been possible through financial support from AMREF Kenya through its Maanisha Programme.
AMREF have funded the following activities; a) Training of 50 community health workers on community strategy, b) counseling and testing of over 3500 people through innovative community outreaches, c) Training of 3 community members as VCT counselors, d) Hosting of District Health Stakeholders Forums, e) Purchase of condom dispensers for distribution of condoms, f) Commemoration of World Health Days, and g) Give technical support to initiated community health units.
